Fall is closing in...

Well once again what can we say about the lack of posting on here?  Excuses are many... as my sister in law recently asked...
Splashing in the pool

"what's happening with your blog?" However, I have reason to believe things are on the upswing and here's why:

Raglan likes to 'help' too

1. Summer Camp is over for 2010 - yup that's right... year one at Pioneer Pacific under our belts.  It's hard to sum up a summer at camp as so much happens in such a short time and at the end you stand dazed and confused hardly able to believe it wasn't just a long tiring dream.  John's comment as we looked at the end of camp was "well, we made it... they didn't fire us".  This summer was a busy one for John.  There were a few hiccups along the way that kept us all on our toes, like what do you do when you live on an island and you run out of propane... like the kind of propane that keeps your kitchen operating... and you have 120 people to feed... and you can only get propane on Thursdays... and it's Tuesday... However, the biggest memory of summer 2010 will be the trenches...  This was the summer that our out dated infrastructure dealt us the hand that had us digging trenches all over the camp to replace water, sewer and phone lines.  The trenching machine was great... except that we live on a rock... many thanks to the 50 plus PYC's (pioneer youth crew's) who dug... and dug... and dug... with pick axes and shovels.  For me this summer was different.  We've done summer camp before so in some ways we knew what to expect.  For me, however, this was the first time I'd done camp as a mom.  Over all it was good.  I enjoyed watching Raglan get to know the staff and interact with them.  It was especially fun hearing him learn their names... Thanks to all the staff who were so involved with Raglan this summer,  you blessed me (not to mention him)
Learning to be a drummer
.  Already he's been asking to go for a walk to the camp and asking for some of his favorite buddies who are no longer here... It may be a bit of a struggle to adjust for him too...  Over all it was soo good to see Pioneer Pacific in full swing and get a feel for the way things go around here.  This winter will be different purely because we've seen a summer... and it was good.

2. Ok, so reason number two why I think there will be more updates coming to this little blog is this... **cross your fingers**  we are hopefully getting internet... to our house.... this week!!!  Having very little faith in Telus, we shall see if they come through but this is what they say... so... cross your toes too :)
